Pathway to Freedom
If we believe that there is no final standard of right and
wrong, then freedom becomes pursuing life without
restriction. After all, who can judge what we choose to do?
However, when people do what is right in their own eyes the
results are predictable. Various addictions, family
breakdown, corruption, human trafficking, conflicts, relative
morality and many other social and personal ills are daily
reminders of what happens when truth is abandoned.
Far from freedom, making our own truth leads to bondage.
Alistair Beggs’ book, Pathway to Freedom, teaches that the
ten commandments are the Lord’s foundation for order,
direction and hope. Jesus taught that the whole fabric of the
Law and the Prophets was summed up under the two tables
of the Ten Commandments. In the New Testament they are
applied to Christians. They can never justify us but they do
direct us, showing what love of God and neighbour looks
like.
Join us as we consider their provocative insights that guide
us, keeping us from falling prey to legalism on the one hand
or license on the other.
The Institute of the Christian Family:
Glorifying God and Spreading the Gospel Through Our Homes
“...it is no mere accident of history that family relationships have always been the
very nucleus of all human civilization. According to scripture, that is precisely the
way God designed it to be. And therefore, if the family crumbles as an institution,
all of civilization will ultimately crumble along with it.” - John MacArthur
If this is true, we cannot possibly overestimate the impact our families can have on
those who live next door to us, down the street from us, or in the same
neighborhood as us. Given the current condition of the family in society, as
Christians we should be constantly driven to evaluate, in the light of God’s Word,
whether or not our families live out our ordinary daily lives in the way God intended.
During this class we will be taught, challenged and encouraged as to how we might
further glorify God as husbands, wives, dads, moms, kids and grandparents as we
explore His design for families. At the same time we will learn practical ways to
reflect God’s glory on our streets and in our neighborhoods as we share the gospel
by giving as families, serving as families and opening our homes to invite others
into our families.
This class is open to those who: are not married, not yet married, are newly
married, have been married for many years, don’t have kids, hope to have kids,
have kids who have kids, or are kids themselves. Whatever category you fall under,
you are invited to learn from God’s Word and God’s people how we might glorify
God and spread the gospel in and through our families.
